Mahashivratri 2025: Mahashivratri is one of the most important festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is celebrated in the month of Phalguna on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paks. It is considered a very important day for Shiva worship. This year, Mahashivratri will be seen on 26 February 2025.

On this holy occasion, devotees make special prayers and inspect the fast. Not only during the day but also through all the four strikes of Mahashivratri. Since this day is very auspicious for Shiva worship, the temple sees a large crowd of devotees since morning. Although Lord Shiva is easily pleased with a simple offering of pure water with devotion, Mahashivratri has special significance for its worship. Therefore, devotees present their favorite offerings to seek blessings and fulfill their wishes.

In Hinduism, the deity offering of flowers and fruits is an essential part of worship, as it is believed to have the gods to please and bring their divine blessings. Similarly, on Mahashivratri, devotees offer garlands and flowers to Lord Shiva to seek their grace. However, while some flowers are dear to Lord Shiva, others are forbidden in his worship. Dear flower to Lord Shiva

• Olender flower – The offering of Oliander flower (Kaner) is considered auspicious in the worship of Shiva. It is believed that Lord Shiva is happy when white and red Kaner flowers are offered.

• Unit flower – Aka (mother) on Shivling is believed to fulfill the desires of offering flowers. Therefore, it is highly recommended to offer AAK flowers to Lord Shiva during Mahashivratri Puja.

• Shami flower – Shami leaves are dear to Lord Shiva as Belpatra. Similarly, Shami flower can also be offered to him. It is believed that offering Shami flowers helps to fulfill one’s wishes.

• Dhatura flower – Dhatura is one of Lord Shiva’s favorite offerings. It is believed that Dhatura flowers are offered on Shivling with devotion with virtue and absorbs a person of all sins.

Flowers disliked by Lord Shiva

While some flowers are in favor of Lord Shiva, there are other people they dislike. Let us know which flowers should not be offered in the worship of Shiva.

• Kantakari flower In addition to Dhatura, no fork or sharp flower should be given to Lord Shiva. By doing this, it is believed that there is struggle and disagreement for the family.

• Lotus flower – Lotus flowers should not be given to Lord Shiva. They are considered suitable for Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, but they should never be placed on Shivling.

• dead flowers – Stale or withering flowers should never be used in worship. Similarly, on Mahashivratri, the offering of such flowers to Lord Shiva is considered inauspicious.

• Sunflower – The offer of sunflower on Shivling is strictly banned. It is considered a royal flower, and items associated with luxury or grandeur are not used in worshiping Shiva. Simplicity is important in Shiva’s offerings.
