Turki Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yasar Guler on 9 July 2025 with Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad.
Pakistan and Turkas agreed to promote their cooperation in several areas including defense, trade, energy and infrastructure on Wednesday (July 9, 2025), targeting to increase the quantity of bilateral trade to $ 5 billion.
It was agreed to this during a conversation between Turk’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yasar Guler in Islamabad with Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
“Pakistan wants to benefit from Turki’s expertise and experiences in this (defense) region,” Mr. Dar said, “will further strengthen their cooperation to promote the two countries to promote peace and stability throughout the region.”
“We are actively engaged in various activities, including capacity building and terrorism,” Shree Dar said, Turkey described as “reliable friends” and a “reliable brother”.
Turkish Foreign Minister called cooperation in the field of defense industry a “strategic step” and said that it will be further strengthened in the coming days.
He said that both countries will continue to support each other in combating terrorism.
“We are pursuing the establishment of a particular economic zone dedicated to Turkish entrepreneurs in Karachi,” Mr. Dar said while addressing a joint press conference with Mr. Fidan.
He also mentioned other busyness, including the revival of the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad train, saying, “Our delegations are meeting to finalize the roadmap for revival in the coming weeks.”
Mr. Dar said that Pakistan has already allotted land for the construction of Turki’s Marif School in Muzaffarabad. “A Maarif Foundation delegation is visiting Muzaffarabad today and is visiting the site for evaluation,” he said.
Mr. Fidan said that the two countries have expanded their relations in the fields of economy, energy, defense, industry, education and culture, saying that they aim to increase their commercial relations to $ 5 billion.
The state-run Radio Pakistan said that while mentioning the recent Pakistan-India struggle, Mr. Fidan “appreciated the knowledge-oriented attitude of Pakistan”.
The Turkish delegation also called the head of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babur Sidhu at the air headquarters here.
According to an army statement, the meeting includes discussion on the possibilities for developing regional security dynamics, progress of ongoing defense cooperation and future cooperation in the emerging domains of war.
