The amount of assistance entering Gaza remains “very insufficient” despite a limited improvement, the German government said on Saturday (August 2, 2025) that ministers discussed ways to increase pressure on Israel.

External Affairs Minister Johan Wadeful criticized the region this week and the German army staged its first food aircraft in Gaza, where aid agencies say that more than two million Palestinians are facing starvation.

Government spokesman Stephen Cornellius said in a statement, “Germany limited initial progress in the distribution of humanitarian aid to the population of the Gaza Strip.

“Israel is obliged to ensure complete delivery of support,” Cornellius said.

Facing the growing international criticism on its military operations in Gaza, Israel has allowed more trucks to pursue the border and some foreign countries to pursue food and drug aircrafts.

International agencies say that the amount of assistance entering Gaza is still dangerously low.

The United Nations has said that 6,000 trucks are waiting for permission to enter the Palestinian region occupied by Israel.

The German government, traditionally a strong supporter from Israel, also “expressed concern about those reports that large amounts of human assistance is being stopped by Hamas and Criminal Organizations”.

Israel has alleged that most of the assistance reaching the region is being taken away by Hamas, which runs Gaza.

The Israeli army is accused of being equipped with Palestinian criminal networks in his fight against Hamas and allowing them to loot aid delivery.

“The actual theft since the onset of the war has been carried out by criminal gangs under the supervision of Israeli forces,” told reporters in May, Jonathan Wohital of the United Nations agency Och for the coordination of humanitarian affairs.

The source of a German government told AFP It was noted that Israel has increased the number of aid trucks allowed in “quite” Gaza, which has increased to about 220 in a day.

Berlin has taken a difficult line against Israel’s works in Gaza and occupied West Bank in recent weeks.

Germany on partial suspension of weapon delivery to Israel

The source said that a German security cabinet meeting on Saturday discussed “various options” to pressurize Israel, but no decision was taken.

A partial suspension of arms delivery is an option for Israel.

Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in 1,219 people, according to A. AFP Tally based on official Israeli data.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Gaza has been killed at least 60,249 Palestinians by Israel’s military aggressive since then. The United Nations Ministry data is considered reliable.
