The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBK) has emerged by donating Rs 33.8 lakh to the Relief Fund in support of flood victims in Punjab. The state is currently facing its worst floods in decades. According to a state government bulletin, Delus has claimed 37 lives and affected over 3.5 lakh people.
While initially 12 districts had taken up the disaster, all the 23 districts of the state have now been declared affected by floods. In such a sad time, Punjab Kings have come forward to provide relief by participating as part of the ‘together for Punjab’ campaign with Hemcont Foundation and Round Table India.
PBK has donated Rs 33.8 lakh and will help provide inflatable rescue boat for distribution of families, medical emergency situations and necessary relief supply to support flood affected persons in the state. The use of boats as disaster-response property in Punjab for future emergency situations will also continue.
