Times of India Sports Awards (Toisa) 2024 is set to be in Lucknow on 22 February 2025. Some of the top sports champions of the Nawab city of India will grace on the occasion. The winners will be handed over by a magnificent jury, symbolizing their respective sports. Honoring the indomitable spirit of the country’s outstanding athletes, the seventh edition of Toisa will give the award of 48 categories – 36 sports and 12 para sports. 175 nominations include the person along with the person. Tosa Jury met in Delhi on 10 February and reviewed the list of nominees and selected the winner for each category.
Below is a brief introduction Toisa 2024 Jury Member:
Anju Bobby George, Born in Kerala, Anju made his mark as a long jumper, thrilling the nation with his defined achievement in the 2003 World Championships. He made history as the first Indian athlete to win the World Championship medal, earned bronze. Anju’s magnificent long jump career also includes a gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games. Anju is also a senior vice -president of the Padma Sri and Khel Ratna Awardee, who remains a national record in women’s long jump, is also a senior vice -president of the Athletics Federation of India.
Yogeshwar dutt, Dutt is a revered person in Indian wrestling, who is known for his unwavering commitment for sports. His praise includes acquiring a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics. In Haryana, the journey from Bhiswal Kalan, Dutt’s success, is a will for his flexibility. Dutt’s remarkable career includes gold medals in both the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, which strengthens its position as one of the most famous wrestlers in India.
Dilp Tirkey, From Odisha, Dilip Tirkey is a stallwart in Indian hockey. As the first tribal player to captain the Indian men’s hockey team, he led with a difference with the earnings of over 400 international cap. Three-time Olympian, he also played an important role in India’s gold medal win at the 1998 Asian Games and the 2003 Extra-Asian Games. Awarded with Padma Shri, Arjuna Award and Ekalavya Award, he strengthened his legacy as one of the biggest defenders in India.
Devendra Jhajaria, A native of Rajasthan, Jhajaria, with his record-breaking achievements, re-defined para-athletics in India, prominently increased as a javelin. He is the first Indian para-athlete to win two paralympic gold medals, while Tokyo also receives a silver in 2020. Padma Shri, recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award, remains a trailblazer in Indian Games. He continues to inspire generations with his patience and tenacity.
Vijendra Singh, Vijendra Singh is a accurate Indian boxer and Olympic medalist who is known for changing Indian boxing on the global stage. He won a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, marking India’s first Olympic boxing medal. With several international titles and a successful professional career, Vijender remains a trailblazer in the Indian Games. His achievements have inspired a generation of young boxers, making them a famous person in Indian sports history.
