Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad has stopped the non -vegetarian supply of chicken and eggs. Neighboring states due to suspected avian influenza.
Zoo officials used 35 kg chicken and about 140 eggs to feed the carnivorous, including tigers, lions, panthers and Jaguar, zoo sources said on Friday (February 14, 2025). He said that meat -eating animals are now fed mutton, beef and pork in place of chicken and eggs.
Spread over an area of 380 acres, the zoo is home to a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.
Telangana preventive measures
After the increase in chicken deaths in neighboring states due to suspected avian influenza, Telangana has investigated inter-state border check posts To prevent the transport of sick birds in the state and strengthen bio-protection measures, a senior official of veterinary and animal husbandry said two days ago. Reports indicate a large number of chickens in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in recent times.
