Union Minister captive Sanjay Kumar said on Saturday that the Center will not accept the Telangana government’s move to include Muslims in the category of backward classes.
His comments are important as the Telangana government recently announced a plan to pass a bill in the Legislative Assembly to increase reservation for OBCs and sent it to the Center for parliamentary approval.

He said that the state government tried to persuade the central leadership to pass the bill, if the state government sends it to the center after removing the Muslims from the BC list, he said.
He said, “Backward classes will suffer losses in jobs, reservation, educational opportunities, budget allocation and other fields if Muslims are included in the BC category,” he said.
“Muslims are already gaining benefits as minorities and under the economically weaker sections (EWS) category,” he said.
He claimed that Muslims would win the reserved seats for BCS in the upcoming Telangana local body elections, as “their voting is unilateral.
Kumar said that other castes (OC) also oppose the inclusion of Muslims in the BC category, as it will negatively affect the BCS.
He said that the 27 February survey for three MLC seats in the state will serve as a referendum on this issue.
Kumar held a meeting here with officials of the Central and Telangana governments on the ‘properties of the enemy’. He asked the authorities to meet the accounting of enemy properties in Telangana, which comes under the jurisdiction of the mentor of India’s enemy property (CEPI) by the end of March after conducting a ground survey and confirming the records. .
He directed the officials to take necessary steps to protect the properties of the enemy.
The enemy’s property leaves behind those in India who acquired Pakistani or Chinese citizenship.
