Man arrested for a diamond defeat of Rs 6 crore at Delhi Airport


New Delhi:

The Customs Department said that a person was arrested for smuggling a diamond necklace about six crore rupees at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.

The arrested person, an Indian male passenger, according to officials, came from Bangkok on Air India Flight AI 356, an Indian male passenger.

The passenger was identified and closed at IGI Airport on the basis of profiling by customs authorities, after which a detailed examination of man’s belongings was discovered after a herb defeat with diamonds.

The necklace has a delicate series adorned with oval and rectangular diamonds, leading to a striking pendant. The pendant is a square -shaped piece, with a major yellow diamond in its center, surrounded by many layers of clear diamonds.

Custom officials have filed a smuggling case against the accused.

The recovered jewelry was evaluated at Rs. 6,08,97,329/- (Rs. 6 crore eight lakh ninety nine only seven thousand three hundred twenty nine).

The defeat was seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, which allows smuggling goods to be confiscated.

The man has been arrested and is now facing legal action as per the provisions of the Customs Act.

Further investigation is underway to highlight more details related to smuggling efforts.
