On Monday, an excavation on BJP was predicted in selection of a Chief Minister, senior AAP leader and former Delhi minister Gopal Rai for the national capital that Delhi could see three different CMs again in the next five years.
Addressing a press conference, Rai said that the BJP is struggling to choose a leader despite its decisive victory, reflecting deep internal partitions within the party.
“Even after 10 days, they are not able to choose a CM, which shows that they do not have a face. The reality is that history can repeat itself and we can see three Chief Ministers in the next five years, as during the final BJP government in Delhi, “he said.
Rai reiterated that AAP would act as a strong opposition and will ensure that the BJP fulfills its promises from the people of Delhi.
“The BJP used all its strategies during the campaign in collusion with the Election Commission. Despite all his power, the people of Delhi were standing with us and we are grateful to it. In the context of seats, there is a difference, but we have decided that AAP will stand with people and raise his voice against the BJP, “he said.
The AAP leader also accused the BJP of internal strength conflicts, suggesting that whoever becomes CM will face resistance from other groups within the party.
“The indifference on CM’s post shows how many power groups are working within the BJP. No matter who is chosen, other groups will try to disrupt their leadership and history will repeat themselves, “he said.
To finalize his CM candidate, with the BJP, Rai announced that the AAP would start working on strengthening its grassroots support.
“We were waiting for the BJP to take our decision before finalizing our plan, but we are out of patience. Since they are not announcing their CM, we are starting our work immediately, “he said.
On the question of the AAP leader’s opposition, Rai said that the party will take a decision only after the BJP announced its Chief Minister and the cabinet.
The BJP has been designed to form the government in Delhi after a gap of 26 years, which last won the assembly elections in 1993. During their last term from 1993 to 1998, Delhi saw three BJP Chief Ministers-Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma and Sushma Swaraj.
The political battle between the AAP and the BJP is ready to intensify to add speculation of internal conflicts with the leadership of Saffron Party.
In the recently concluded 70 -member Delhi assembly elections, BJP won 48 seats, while AAP won 22 seats. The results were declared on 8 February after voting on 5 February.
The BJP’s victory abolished the AAP’s decade-long rule in the national capital. In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP managed only eight seats.
