Officials said on Monday (17 February 2025), the police arrested a local AAP leader, his female friend and four alleged contract killers in connection with the murder of their wife.
He said that Anokh Mittal’s wife Lipse Mittal (33) was killed by robbers near a village on Saturday, he said.
Police said the incident occurred when Anokhi and his wife Lipasi were returning home after dinner at a hotel on Ludhiana-Malkotla Road.
He initially told the police that the robbers stopped them on Saturday, attacked the couple with sharp -edged weapons and ran away with their car.
Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that the main conspirators of the murder became the husband of the woman.
Chahal said that the police have also arrested her husband and local AAP leader Anokh Mittal (35), a businessman and his 24 -year -old girlfriend.
Police said Anokhi’s wife came to know that her husband had an additional relationship, after which he planned his wife with a girlfriend.
The commissioner said that apart from Angkh and his girlfriend, four contract killers – Amritpal Singh alias Balli (26), Gurdeep Singh alias Manni (25), Sonu Singh (24) and Sagaip Singh alias Tej (30) – has also been arrested. ,
He said that Amritpal, Gurdeep and Sonu are from nearby villages Nandpur and Sagdeep Dhandari is a resident of Kalan. Meanwhile, the kingpin of the contract killers gang, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, are still absconding, he said.
The police officer said Anokhi had promised to pay Rs 2.5 lakh to the contract killers and had already paid Rs 50,000. Police said further investigation was on.
