Honeytrap? Nia Nabs 2 who leaked Karwar Base Information to Pakistan

Karwar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two persons of Uttara Kannada district for leaking sensitive information. Karwar naval base Sources said on Tuesday that Pakistan for Pakistan in an alleged case of honey being stuck.

In August 2024, Nia questioned three persons – Tandel, Naik and Sunil from Todur about suspected espionage. While he was initially released, the agency continued to track its activities.
The accused allegedly shared photos of Karwar Base and made a details of naval movements in exchange for money, a monthly payment of Rs 5,000 for eight months. The detective ring was exposed after Nia’s arrest of Deepak and others in Hyderabad. Officials have detected the financial transactions connecting the accused to the detective network. Tandel and Naik were employed on contract with iron and Mercury in the moon region of Karwar. A former contract worker Sunil is now a driver in the Cabard Naval Base Canteen.
The NIA is interrogating the arrested persons and has sought information about his activities. Officers are discussing with C Bird Officers. There is a possibility of more arrests as the authorities suspect a comprehensive network in the case. INS Kadamba – also known as Navy Base Karwar or Project Cabard – is an important Indian Navy base in Karnataka. It is the third largest naval station in India and is ready to become the largest in the eastern hemisphere after the ongoing expansion.
