The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ready to announce the name of the next Delhi Chief Minister this evening. The meeting of the BJP’s Legislature Party was held before today at the party’s Delhi Unit office and the meeting of the Vidhan Sabha is scheduled for 7 pm to finalize the decision.
Meanwhile, four investigations have emerged as a precursor to the position of Delhi CM. BJP MLA Rekha Gupta of Shalimar Bagh is one of the forearm for the top post in Delhi. Sources have told ABP News that three other MLAs: Parvesh Verma, MLA from New Delhi; MLA from Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Rajouri Garden; And Rohini MLA, Vijendra Gupta, is also a runner in front for the top position.
All four investigations of Delhi CM
Shalimar Bagh MLA Rekha Rekha Gupta is said to be at the forefront of the CM’s chair after defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari. Gupta will represent the constituency in the Delhi Assembly for the first time.
Rohini MLA Vijendra Gupta, Leader of Opposition in the previous Delhi Assembly, won a hat -trick of victory from Rohini, won by 37,816 votes.
Meanwhile, Parvesh Verma has emerged as the ‘huge killer’ of the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, defeated by a margin of 4,089 votes, defeating AAM AADMI Party (AAP) supremo and outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the high-profile New Delhi Constitution. Parvesh Verma is the son of former Delhi Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sahib Singh Verma.
Party sources have also said that the next CM will be from 48 MLAs who have won the Delhi Assembly elections. Apart from the naming of the Chief Minister, the party is also likely to make two deputy CMs.
The BJP will also announce the names of two observers, who will ignore the oath -taking ceremony of Delhi CM on Thursday. The swearing -in ceremony of the new Chief Minister has been slated at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital at 12:30 pm on February 20 (Thursday).
After 26 years, the BJP has come to power, defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi Assembly elections on 5 February. 48 BJP MLAs chose the House leader in the Delhi Assembly who will become the Chief Minister.
After being elected by the party MLA, the new Chief Minister met Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena at Raj Niwas for a claim of power. Meanwhile, preparations for a grand swearing -in ceremony of the new government at Ramlela Ground on Thursday afternoon are in full swing.
Around 50,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues and the Chief Minister of NDA, rule the states among other guests, will participate in the ceremony.
More than 50 celebrities including Akshay Kumar and Vivek Oberoi, famous industrialists and diplomats from other countries like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani have been invited to attend the ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, which can accommodate more than 30,000 people.
