Delhi will find its ninth Chief Minister in Rekha Gupta on Thursday, who became only the fourth woman to hold the post in the national capital. Talking to NDTV, he said that the honor is not only for him but for “all sisters and daughters of this country”.

Ms. Gupta said that women’s issues would be her priority and a special message for her: “Their rights … they will get their rights”.

In the Delhi Assembly elections, women were at the center of the BJP’s pole pitch. The party has promised 2,500 monthly assistance for women, including AAP crossing a promise of Rs 2,100, financial assistance of Rs 21,000 for each pregnant woman, LPG cylinder Rs 500 and a pension of Rs 2,500 for senior citizens. .

Rekha Gupta, who won from Shalimar Bagh, defeated AAP candidate Bandana Kumari by more than 29,000 votes and was at the forefront of the Chief Minister, taking oath of office at a grand ceremony at Ramilila Maidan on Thursday. Top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues and Chief Ministers of NDA -ruled states, are expected to attend the ceremony to take oath.

He was elected as the leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly in the meeting of the BJP Legislature Party late evening, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was appointed as two central supervisors of the party along with OP Dhankar, announced on Wednesday. .

50 -year -old Ms. Gupta later met Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and claimed to form the government.

There was no official word from the party whether the BJP would be a Deputy Chief Minister in the government. However, party sources said that in the cabinet, all communities would be represented. Delhi may have a maximum of seven ministers including the Chief Minister.

She will also be the fourth Chief Minister of BJP in Delhi after Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma and Sushma Swaraj.

The BJP won 48 seats in a historic mandate in the Delhi Assembly elections earlier this month, leaving the Aam Aadmi Party out of power. The Congress failed to open its account.
