Big Brothers Big Sisters program is an American organization working with children.
Fide chief Arbiter Alex Holovazak warned Carlson for the World Rapid and Blitz Championships that his jeans did not follow the dress code of the tournament. Chess superstars were fined $ 200 (about Rs 17,000) and asked to replace before the next game in the day.
Carlson reportedly told him that he wore trousers the next day, on which Holovazak warned him to be unpublished for the next round if he did not oblige. For that, Carlson quit the incident.
“I’m very tired, so I don’t want it anymore. I do not want anything with them. I am sorry for everyone at home, perhaps it’s an stupid principle, but I don’t think it’s no fun, “Carlson immediately told the Norwegian broadcasting channel NRK.
“At that point it became a part of the principle for me,” Carlson later explained. “Honestly, it was not too big to start my patience with them. And that’s fine. They can apply their rules. It’s fine by me. And my response is fine, so I’m outside.
Eventually, the Fide relaxed the dress code and returned to the Carlson Blitz Championship. He and Ian Napomonachchi shared the first place.
