Assam Investigation Pakistan Activist’s 18 trips in India: CM Himant Biswa Sarma | India News – The Times of India

Guwahati: Assam CM Himant Biswa Sarma On Thursday said that Pakistani climate activist Ali Tauqir Sheikh visited India 18 times between 2010 and 2018, while it shows that the state police’s investigation into his activities and connections could have serious political consequences.
CM said, “We will know who invited him during those trips and hosted,” CM said, speaking during the assembly session. He said that within three months, the police will present evidence which could prove to be “fatal to the Congress”.
The Assam Police has initiated an investigation against Sheikh under BNS and UAPA to remove crimes outside India outside India which endangers the country’s sovereignty and communal harmony.
Sheikh has been accused of interfering in Assam’s internal affairs. The controversy stems from his alleged social media activities, which Sarma said that low on climate action and focus on the state’s Hindu-Muslim dynamics, immigration issues and internal political matters.
A police seating has been tasked to highlight the details about their activities. The CM also indicated the possibility of including the NIA, if the state police reached a dead end in its investigation, indicating the national importance of the investigation.
