Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday returned to the NEP row to attack CM MK Stalin in Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and said that the state would follow the 2-language policy only. He said that the state was only demanding its proper share of funds from the Center from the taxes paid by them.
“We are asking our (stake) funds, around Rs 2150 crore. They (Center) want us to accept NEP and 3-Language Policy. Tamil Nadu has always opposed three language policy and made it clear Gone. -Language policy will not be accepted.
The state has sacrificed life for “language war”, he said in a clear context of the 1965 anti-Hindi movement, where many supporters killed themselves, mostly from self-explosion, allegedly applicable to Hindi Against being.
The DMK leader said, “Education is the right of Tamils, please understand who is doing politics.”
Pradhan attacked Stalin on the row on the implementation of NEP and accused him of “spinning progressive reforms in dangers to maintain political narratives”.
In the letter to Stalin, Pradhan said that Tamil Nadu CM should rise above political differences and think about the interests of young learners who will benefit from the new National Education Policy.
The Education Minister was responding to the letter by Stalin, written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. In his letter, Stalin stated that two centrally sponsored initiatives with the National Education Policy (NEP) – Complete Shikha Abhiyan (SSA) and PM Shri Schools were fundamentally unacceptable.
In his letter to Tamil Nadu CM, Pradhan said, “The letter sent to the PM is a complete negation of the spirit of cooperative federalism promoted by the Modi government. Therefore, it is unfair to see Nap 2020 with a myopic vision and it is unfair to the state. Spin the progressive educational reforms in the dangers to maintain their political narratives and the central government has been in Logerheads on the implementation of NEPs. The DMK government has accused the Ministry of Education of preventing funds for important schemes.
