Police said a Bengaluru girl died of suicide on Wednesday, when her mother scolded her to spend extra time on mobile phones instead of making her sufficiently preparing for her class 10 examinations.
The 15-year-old deceased was identified as Avantika Chaurasia, was a resident of Assetz Marak on Whitefield-Hoskot Road and was studying at Delhi Public School at Whitefield.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), Shivkumar Gunre told the Indian Express, “We are further investigating to find out other reasons, if any.”
Reacting to the incident, the Kadugodi police filed a case of an unnatural death and sent the body for postmortem. The police were informed about the incident around 11.30 am. After investigation, it was revealed that the girl’s board exam was scheduled to begin on 15 February.
