Talking to reporters, Shyam said that there was no constitutional crisis after Singh’s decision to step down and the ongoing issues would be resolved by the Center with the help of MLAs.
“I don’t know about the President’s rule. I think the problem (ongoing leadership crisis) will be solved by the Center with the help of MLAs. I think there is no constitutional crisis in Manipur.
Responding to a question at the end of a maximum six -month gap between two consecutive sessions of the state assembly, Shyam said, “Let’s see what happens”.
Asked if the name of the new Chief Minister would be announced, Shyam refused to comment with a laugh.
Meanwhile, Congress MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar questioned the objective of the state’s visit and asked if he intends to resolve the leadership crisis.
“It is really unfortunate for BJP leaders that they are not able to select their own CM and call the assembly session. What is the purpose of traveling to Patra in the state? Has he come to break the state? Lokeshwar told reporters.
The Congress MLA said that Petra should have discussed a new CM after discussing with BJP MLAs.
