On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Tamil Nadu leaders resorted to social media to emphasize on preserving Tamil. In a message shared on the social media platform X, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin emphasized as a classical language on Tamil’s unique stature, capable of functioning independently without dependence on other languages. Stalin highlighted Tamil’s antiquity and self -reliance that it is a language of immense historical and cultural importance.
“Archaeological excavations in Tamil Nadu have consistently established the greatness of ancient Tamils. His mother tongue, Tamil, is a language not only with commendable antiquity, but also a classical language with the power to act independently without the help of other languages, ”Stalin said.

Stalin hoped that the language would gain global recognition, saying, “Our unique classical language can spread worldwide!”
Palaniswami of AIADMK General Secretary Edappdi also marked the occasion by confirming his party’s linguistic diversity and commitment to the protection of Tamil. In a post on X, Palaniswami said, “On International Mother Language Day, which celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity, we will always respect our mother tongue #Tamil, and all languages, and the feelings of those who have equality to our language Speak with “At the same time, the attempt to put some other languages on Tamils will lose.” He said that any attempt to put a second language on Tamils would be strongly opposed.
BJP’s state chief K Annamalai, while accepting the importance of mother tongue, highlighted the National Education Policy (NEP) of the Central Government, which advocates basic education to the fifth standard provided in the mother tongue. Annamalai emphasized the need to embrace multi -languageism while being vested in Tamil.
“In today’s digital world, it is necessary to add languages and make many languages an opportunity to learn. Let us learn many languages based on our mother tongue, Tamil. Let us know the glory of Tamil language for the world, ”Annamalai said on X.
