China has welcomed PM Modi’s recent comments on China-India relations for a cooperative approach between the two nations. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning emphasized that Modi’s comments align with China’s vision for stability and progress in the region.
China on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments, advocating dialogue on discord in China-Indian relations, calling it a “positive statement” that aligns with the need for cooperation between two Asian giants.
Addressing a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said that China gave importance to Modi’s comments during his conversation with American Podcaster Lex Fridman, where he emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and cooperation between the two countries.
Modi-Xi meeting determines strategic direction
Mao said that the successful meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia in October provided strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. He said that both sides have actively followed through their shared commitments, strengthened diplomatic exchange and achieved positive results.
Mao said, “I should emphasize that in more than 2,000 years of conversation, China and India have maintained friendly exchange, learning from each other and contributed to decent achievements and human progress,” Mao said.
‘A cooperative pass day dex is the only option’
As the two largest developing countries in the world, China and India share the responsibility of accelerating development and supporting each other’s successes, emphasizing Mao. He reiterated the recent statements made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, describing the relationship as a dance between the “Cooperative Pass Day Dax,” or an elephant and the dragon, which remains the “only option” for both sides.
He said, “This partnership serves the basic interests of 2.8 billion people, align with the aspirations of the regional countries, and strengthen the global South, eventually contributes to world peace and stability,” he said.
China is ready to work with India on bilateral relations
Mao confirmed China’s commitment to implement the major agreements made during the discussions of Modi and Xi. He insisted that the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations presents an opportunity to increase and promote a stable and creative relationship between Beijing and New Delhi.
PM Modi’s optimism on India-China relations
During his podcast with Fridman, PM Modi admitted that the general situation returned to the India-China border after a recent engagement with President Xi. While reflecting ancient cultural relations between the two countries, he said that differences between neighbors are natural, but should not increase disputes.
PM Modi said, “India and China once contributed more than 50 percent to the global GDP,” saying that their cooperation is not only essentially beneficial, but also for global peace and prosperity.
The comments of both sides indicate a positive change in India-China relations as the two countries try to manage differences through dialogues and strengthen bilateral engagement.
