The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has clarified that there will be no increase in fares in the immediate future. The DMRC was responding to several social media posts, claiming that the Bangalore Metro (NAMMA Metro) fare will be expensive after the fare hike, commuting by the Delhi Metro will also be expensive.

Earlier on 8 February, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) paid up to 50%fare on NAMMA Metro. BMRCL defended its decision to increase the fare, saying: “The rising cost and loan repayment of Rs 10,422 crore was revised by BMRCL after 6 years due to repayment of loan of Rs 10,422 crore.” It further said that discounts will continue on off-pakh hours, Sundays and holidays.

The Namma Metro fare had increased within a month of the BJP, claiming that the plan to raise ticket prices was kept by PM Narendra Modi. He said that PM Modi had sought a report before the amendment of the fare and called it a “big victory” for the people of Bengaluru.
