AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal met the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday with Delhi Chief Minister Atisi and expressed concern over the strategy of alleged threats being used in the national capital before the assembly elections.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Kejriwal accused the party leader Raghav Chadha, BJP and Delhi Police of engaging in “hooliganism” to create an atmosphere of fear between voters.
“We told EC how Delhi Police is being misused for violence and threats. Many people are scared, and it is possible that they cannot come out to vote due to fear, “he said.
The former Chief Minister also alleged that efforts were being made to suppress voters, especially among the residents of the slum.
“There are reports that people’s fingers are being marked with black ink, which are trying to disintegrate them, and money and dangers are being used to impress voters. We raised these concerns with EC, ”Kejriwal said.
He thanked the EC for giving him a meeting despite the silence period and said that the authorities have assured him of an independent and fair election. “EC has assured us that they will take necessary steps to stop any such wrongdoing.” Delhi goes to elections on 5 February and the results will be declared on 8 February.
Chief Minister Atisi accused the BJP of engaging in “hooliganism” and alleged that the EC and Delhi Police were saving the workers of the saffron party, targeting AAP leaders and members.

A police officer claimed that an AAP worker slapped a head constable.
In response, Atisi took the EC in X, accusing them of bias. He said, “BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri and his family members are openly entangled in hooliganism, yet no action is taken against him. Instead, a case has been filed against me,” he wrote.
Earlier, Kejriwal also posted on X in Hindi, stating that “the Election Commission has filed a police case against Delhi CM after complaining about open hooliganism.” “So now, this is the official stand of Delhi Police and the Election Commission-his ‘job’ is to indulge in hooliganism against the Aam Aadmi Party, protect BJP’s hooliganism, and distribute alcohol, money and goods.
