New Delhi: Government of India appointed pre -appointed on Saturday reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das Principal Secretary -2 as Prime Minister Narendra ModiAccording to an official order.
His tenure will be “co-terminus” with the PM’s tenure or until further orders, whoever comes first.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr. Shaktikanta Das, IAS (retired), as Prime Minister -2 as Prime Minister, he is effective from that date as Prime Minister. Prime Minister or further orders Till, whichever is earlier, “read the order.
Das will serve as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister along with Pramad Kumar Mishra, who is in the post since September 11, 2019. He was again appointed to the post in June 2024.
1972 batch officer Dr. PK Mishra had previously retired as the Agriculture Secretary to the Government of India and has been working closely with PM Modi for the last ten years. He also worked as Additional Principal Secretary to PM Modi from 2014 to 2019.
Shaktikanta DAS, former Secretary of Revenue Department and Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, on December 12, 2018, assumed the post as the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Prior to his appointment, he served as a member of the 15th Finance Commission and the G20 Sherpa of India.
With more than 38 years of experience in governance, DAS has served in important positions in both central and state governments, specializing in finance, taxation, industry and infrastructure. His tenure in the Finance Ministry played him a direct role in preparing eight Union Budgets.
Das from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, a Postgraduate, World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB), and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB (AIIB) as an alternative governor of India Also worked.
He has represented India in major international platforms like IMF, G20, BRICS and SAARC.
