Punjab Kings star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been dropped from his distant game Chennai Super Kings Due to a fragmented finger, captain Shreyas Iyer was detected during the coin toss on Wednesday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
“Unfortunately that he has found a fragmented finger (Maxwell). Has not yet decided on a replacement,” Iyer told the toss presenter Danny Morrison. Suryash Shej converted Maxwell into a playing XI.
Although Iyer used the word ‘replacement’, it is still not clear whether Maxwell will be able to participate in the remaining part of the tournament.

Maxwell has tolerated a tough IPL season, scoring just 48 runs in six innings. With the ball, Maxwell has taken four wickets. Maxwell was working to compete with CSK left -handed batsmen, Shivam Dubey and Ravindra Jadeja. Maxwell scored 11 runs and rejected Rachin Ravindra in the last meeting between the sides in New Chandigarh.

Punjab Kings have 11 points from nine matches (not five wins, one disadvantage and one result) and are occupying the fifth position in the points table. A win against CSK will take him to another position with 13 points. Meanwhile, CSK has named an unchanged XI.
