Chandigarh: Settlement of a 64 -year dispute, including a 20 -year legal battle on a piece of land in Hisar village being used by a power discom, Punjab and Haryana HC has given officials of land use allegations since 1961. Instructed to pay and compensate the owners on receiving the land.

Justice Pankaj Jain passed these orders after hearing a petition filed by Arjun Lal and others, the residents of Barwal in Hisar district in Haryana, who are owners of 8 Kanal 8 Marla land and are fighting to regain their land Are. Their complaint is against the state which highlights their land and set up a power plant on it without receiving it. He asked for direction to get his land back. However, in its December 2011 orders, the lower court in Hisar refused to occupy the land, but asked them to accept compensation for the land.
The bench said that since 1961, DHBVN was using the plaintiff -owned land without acquisition and without paying compensation. Accordingly, the appellants will have to pay the user fee at the rate of Rs 1,000 per year per year starting from 1961, 10% increase every 10 years by the date of acquisition (February 2005) and interest at 6% per year. When the land is acquired, interest will be paid by 2005. The High Court has directed the Hisar Commissioner to complete the acquisition process and pronounce land award within three months.
