Inter -government session

Photo: Unsplash/Zoshua Colah New York, August 8 -In the fifteenth session of this year, on the global geopolitical information management (UN -GGIM) of the United Nations Committee, with the global geophysical leaders of 80 member states, along with representatives of the industry, private sector and education gathered at the United Nations headquarters from August 4 to 8. The SDG Data Alliance was honored to participate in the major moments of the United Nations-GGIM to promote and increase the role of geopolitical data in sustainable development. Geophysical data has a lot of value for identifying risks, planning for future, responding to crises and building strong communities. But this is more effective when communication is present between statisticians representing diverse areas around the world. The UN-GGIM provides an important platform for inter-governmental cooperation as well as a place for industry leaders to share innovative ideas and solutions for challenges faced worldwide. In the UN-GGIM fifteenth session, the Executive Director of SDG Data Alliance, Dr. Greg Scott, and Chairman of the PVBlic Foundation, Stephen Capel contributed to several discussions and high-level events throughout the season. The major attachments during the week include: on 7 August, Dr. Scott and Mr. Capel led the official signatures of a partnership agreement between Geospaceous World and SDG Data Alliance. The signature marked a new era for strategic cooperation between two major organizations working at the intersection of geophysical innovation and sustainable development.
