Amid the ongoing tariff issue with the United States led by Donald Trump, India has reduced tariffs by up to 150 percent by up by 150 percent on Borbon Whiskey. This decision will give cheaper of US-based borbon whiskey like Jack Daniel or Jim Beam in the country, customers will benefit from low burden on their pockets.
According to the notification of the Government of India dated February 13, 2025, the basic customs for borbon whiskey will be 50 percent, with an additional 50 percent levy, then a total of 100 percent will be taken.
Bourbon whiskey is mainly made from corn (maize). It is distilled by grains, yeast and fermented mash of water.
There are no changes on imports of other liquor products.
India’s decision to reduce the tariff on Borbon Whiskey came during a two -day bilateral visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the United States.
