New Delhi: A day after its crushed defeat in Delhi assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) allegedly allegedly claimed widespread violations of the Model of Conduct (MCC) and claimed that the entire system was against them. Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia Lose in Jongpura, he described the situation as one, where “the entire machinery was against us, and MCC was openly violated.”
Sisodia said, “Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with party leaders who were not able to win the election. They inspired them, accepting that he contested firmly in elections despite the entire machinery being against us and MCC openly violated. ”
Aap MLA Amanatullah Khan, who won in Okhla, echoed similar feelings, expressing disappointment over the election results. Khan said, “We are very sad to the result. It seems that the system, Election Commission, police, and all powers were used intentionally due to loss (AAP). The margin was very small, ” Khan said.
AAP received allegations after facing a significant defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, while only 22 out of 70 seats were secured, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 48, marked a decisive comeback in power in the national capital after 27 years. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sisodia and ministers Satyendra Jain and Saurabh Bhardwaj were among the AAP stallwarts who lost their seats.
Prior to the elections, AAP had already expressed concern about MCC violation, accused the BJP of using government machinery to manipulate the electoral process. The party had claimed that BJP workers were distributing cash and gifts to voters and using state institutions to harass AAP candidates. These claims were rejected by the Election Commission at that time, which said that elections were properly held.
The interesting thing is that Kejriwal gave up the comments of Sisodia and Khan and congratulated the BJP. He said in a video message, “We accept the mandate of the people with humility and I congratulate the BJP for its victory. I hope they will fulfill the expectations of the people of Delhi.” He admitted that AAP had done education, infrastructure and utilities in the last decade and pledged to serve as a creative opposition. “We are not in politics for power; we consider it a medium to serve people,” he said.
Parvesh Verma of BJP defeated Kejriwal by a margin of 4,089 votes in New Delhi constituency. Manish Sisodia lost his Jangpura seat with 675 votes from Tarvinder Singh Marwah of BJP. The Congress, once a major force in Delhi, failed to win any seat for the third consecutive election.
