Myanmar: India’s first batch of emergency assistance reaches the yangon after an earthquake


India has launched Operation Brahma after a devastating earthquake in Myanmar, killing around 1,000 people and destroyed several structures. PM Modi on Saturday had a telephone conversation with Senior General Min Aung Halling and extended support from Myanmar, Myanmar.

The first batch of humanitarian aid from India, which included the search and rescue and medical teams, arrived at Yangon on Saturday. Indian Ambassador Abhay Thakur, who received relief material, included individual care items, food packs, sleeping bags, solar lamps and kitchen utensils, handing him over to Yangon region Chief Minister U So Thin. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar said in a statement that it is coordinating rapid distribution of assistance and relief supply from India with Myanmar officials. Myanmar National Airlines announced free transport of relief supply

In addition, Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) said in an announcement that it would provide relief supply and free transport of medicines to people. MNA has provided free-Bhari ground services at Yangon International Airport to transport relief supply from India and China, according to Myanmar’s global new light.

“We would like to inform you that we will provide relief supply and free transport of medicines to people affected by earthquakes on domestic and international flights,” MNA said.

Following the disastrous earthquake killing more than 1,000 people in Myanmar, authorities are providing relief, assistance and supply in earthquake affected areas, with charitable organizations across the country.

China helps Myanmar

Earlier, Yunnan Provincial Rescue and Medical Team reached Myanmar, the Chinese Embassy said in a declaration. The 37 -member team reached Yangon International Airport on Saturday.

The Chinese government has decided to provide 100 million yuan in emergency humanitarian aid and will send two relief teams at the request of the Myanmar government.
