There is speculation in the name of the next Chief Minister of Manipur after the sudden and unexpected resignation of Ann Biren Singh on Sunday. Since then, the question about who will succeed him as the next Chief Minister of the state-violence-?
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not yet been given an official statement, the names of potential candidates for the top post in the northeast state are being discussed in the media circle. Allegedly, the name for the next Manipur CM can be declared today, sources informed.
Amidst the ongoing speculation on the BJP’s choice to replace Beeren Singh, these five names are considered the top contender for the post of Chief Minister of Manipur. According to sources, the individuals were allegedly present during a private meeting with the state party in -charge, Sambit Patra.
Priority for Chief Minister of Manipur
Thokchom Satyabrat Singh
In 2017, the Thokchom Satyabrat Singh, who was elected in the Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections and from Yiscul constituency in 2022, is currently serving as the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Basant Kumar Singh
Singh, Education Minister in the Ministry of 2th Biren Singh is a four -time MLA from Nambol assembly constituency in Bishanupur district of Manipur, won 2022 Manipur Assembly Legislative Assembly Elections on BJP ticket.
Radheshyam Singh
BJP leader Radheshyam Singh was selected from Herok to Manipur Legislative Assembly in the 2017 Manipur Assembly. He was the Minister of Education, Labor and Employment in the cabinet of Ann Biran Singh. He was then selected again in 2022 and became an advisor to the Chief Minister of Manipur.
In particular, Radheshyam is also a retired IPS officer of Manipur. He received the President’s Police Medal for bravery in 2006.
Yumnam khemchand singh
From 2017 to 2022 served as the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Yumnam Singh, Municipal Administration Housing Development (MAHUD) and the other are a cabinet minister for the Department of Education in the Ministry of Biraran Singh.
Biswajit Singh
Originally selected as Trinumool Congress candidate in 2012, Biswjit Singh resigned in 2015 and contested the by -election as a BJP candidate and won the election. Biswajit Singh is a minister for environment, forest and climate change and power, agriculture, science and technology.
Biran Singh resigns
There has been speculation on these five names, these candidates were seen attending a closed door meeting with BJP’s North East Coordinator Sambbit Patra and major political figures in Manipur. Saffron camp is looking for a candidate who can unite all communities amidst the ongoing crisis in the state.
Meanwhile, Sambbit Patra allegedly made a round of meetings throughout the day and is ready to meet the BJP delegation, which may then leave for Raj Bhavan.
A day after the Manipur Congress announced, Biran Singh’s resignation came that he would carry forward a no -confidence motion against his government on 10 February.
