Nigerian footballer dies in shopping mall in Uganda

The Uganda police said that on Monday (February 24, 2025), they were investigating the death of Nigerian footballer Abubkar Laval which fell from a shopping mall balcony in Kampala.

The 29 -year -old striker played for the local premierership club wiper.

Police said in a statement that he fell from the third floor of the Viocell Shopping Arcade on Monday (February 24, 2025).

He was visiting a Tanzania’s friend in one of the residential apartments, which is part of the mall.

The friend told the police that he had left him alone shortly before he fell.

“Officers are reclaiming CCTV footage and fully inquiring to establish the exact circumstances around the incident,” the police said.

The Wipers Sports Club said in a statement: “We are very sad to declare our dear player, Abubakar Laval’s sudden and untimely passage, who left us this morning.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Law’s family, club fans, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” said this.

Rwanda was a striker of the lol team since joining the club in July 2022 after two years as Kigali.
