Prevention officials announced a comprehensive traffic plan before the ‘Magi Purnima Snin’ at Maha Kumbh on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, imposing strict vehicle restrictions to ensure smooth movement for devotees.
Strict vehicle restrictions will be implemented, with no vehicle area in the fair area and parts of the city, to ensure a systematic and smooth bath experience. These restrictions will be applicable from February 11, which will affect general traffic, allowing exemption for necessary and emergency services.
With the expectation of a large crowd, the administration has urged visitors to follow the official guidelines to use public transport and avoid discomfort.
The notification states: In view of the Magi Purnima bath on 12 February 2025, the following traffic schemes will be implemented for the devotees in the fair area to ensure the smooth conduct of bathing rituals-
- From 4:00 am on 11 February 2025, the entire fair area will be named as a vehicle area, except for essential and emergency services.
- Devotees’ vehicles come from outside for Prigraz
Mahakumba The bath will be directed in the specified parking areas of its respective routes after 4:00 am on 11 February 2025. Necessary and emergency service vehicles will be exempted from this ban. - In order to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees in the prayer city and fair area, a vehicle area will not be implemented in Prayagraj City from 5:00 pm on 11 February 2025. Necessary and emergency service vehicles will be exempted from this ban.
- The above traffic system will be effective till orderly exit of devotees from the fair area on 12 February 2025.
- The ban on vehicle entry and exit in the Prayagraj City and Mela region will also apply to vehicles of imagination vehicles (pilgrims living for an extended period during Kumbh).
