Kuttanad MLA Thomas. Thomas Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Chandra Pav is likely to become the next president [NCP(SP)] Kerala Unit.

The decision was taken after a meeting in Mumbai on Monday to NCP (SP) National President Sharad Pawar, State Forest Minister AK Sessndran, party leaders PC Chacko and Mr. Thomas on Monday.

Neither confirms nor refuses

When contacted, Mr. Thomas neither denied nor confirmed that he would become the state president of NCP (SP). The Kuttanad MLA said that a formal announcement on the state head of the party will be discussed on 25 February by the NCP (SP) state leaders and district presidents by the party’s central supervisor.

Last week, Mr. Chacko’s resignation was led by the state president due to infiltration within the party state unit. Earlier, Mr. Chacko attempted to replace Mr. Sessandron with Mr. Thomas as the party’s representative in the state cabinet. However, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did not agree to this allegedly. Later, Sasendran and Thomas groups shook hands, resigning Mr. Chacko.
