On Cam: Bangalore women using laptops while driving; Police track and fine – ‘WFH not …’


In a bizarre event, which has widely discussed road safety, a woman in Bengaluru was fined for using a laptop while driving by the traffic police. The incident within the RT Nagar traffic boundary went viral on social media after a video of female multitasking behind the wheel.

In a video captured by a fellow motor driver, the woman is shown proposing her laptop on steering wheel while driving. The clip also captured her car’s license plate, making the police capable of identifying and tracking her. Bengaluru Traffic Police acted fast, imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 for careless driving and issued a strict warning.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, North Division) took the social media platform X to share the incident, captioned the post, “working from home, not by car.” The police have stressed the dangers of distracted driving many times and urged citizens to prioritize security on the roads.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, was charged under traffic rules for negligence.

The incident has launched a mixture of online reactions, in which many nebisens have shocked the adventies of the Act, while others criticized the woman for their clear disregard for traffic rules. Some social media users also highlighted the increasing pressure of the work culture, although condemned its dangerous approach to multitasking.

This is not the first time Bengaluru has seen such incidents. The city, known for its notorious traffic congestion, has seen several cases of careless driving and violation of traffic norms. Traffic crisis has also increased due to Aero India and other infrastructure works.
