Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attacked former PM Rajiv Gandhi, mentioning a sketch made by the famous Indian cartoonist RK Laxman.
“A PM used to talk about the 21st century … RK Laxman made a cartoon at that time. It had an aircraft, a pilot and passenger. But the aircraft was on a car and was being pushed by ‘The Common Man’ (laborers). At that time it was humor, but soon turned into reality, “PM said in the Lok Sabha.
‘The Common Man’, a figure that connects most Indians with Laxman, was quickly ready in his career when he joined the Times of India. Laxman joined that national daily in 1951 and remained with the organization until his death. His editorial cartoons not only became a comment, but the history of independent India.

After the death of Laxman in 2015, a report commented on the importance of the ‘Plane on Cart’ cartoon: “… His cartoon with this period (1980s) made it clear that all already all already What was becoming clear for – that technical modernization remained an aristocratic class.
