Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bihar Kishori Vaibhav Suryavanshi to inspire athletes at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) during the inauguration ceremony on Sunday. Unable to travel to Patna, Bihar for the inauguration, PM Modi almost addressed the ceremony.
Kiag 2025 will run from 4 to 15 May, some sports are also being held in Delhi. Most of the games will be held in Patna, Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Begusrai, but three programs – shooting, gymnastics and track cycling – will be held in Delhi.
Suryavanshi has been in the headlines after becoming the youngest Centurion in the Indian Premier League (IPL), when he killed 35 balls against the Titans of Gujarat in 14 years and 32 days.
In fact, he was also the world’s youngest T20 Centurion and also became the fastest Indian to score the IPL hundred, crossing Yusuf Pathan. Inspiring young athletes from all over the country, PM Modi ensured that he mentioned the name Suryavanshi.
He said, “We all have seen the outstanding performance of the son of Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav has set such a big record at this young age. Behind his game, his labor is definitely his labor, but matches at various levels have also helped him,” he said during his inaugural address.
He said, “This means that ‘who will live, he will play Utina (the more a drama, the more he will blossom),” he said.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dream begins
Bought for 1.1 crore, Rajasthan Royals opener Suryavanshi injured Sanju Samson at the beginning of his IPL. He broke the first ball for six in his IPL against Lucknow super veterans. So far, in five matches, Southpo has scored 155 runs.
