A string of initial exit on the ATP circuit has taken a toll on Sumit Nagal’s single rankings as he is now ranked 233rd, after the huge loss of 63 places in about two years, while 45 -year -old Rohan Bopana, who is still playing solid tennis, lost his position in the top -50 for the first time in 15 years.
The last time 27 -year -old Nagal was ranked outside the top -200, in July 2023 when he was kept at 231. Since then he made a stable progress on the tour, and climbed the best of 68 career in July 2024.
However, he has struggled to win since the start of the season. He was placed within the top -100 in January this year, but has lost 142 places on the ranking ladder in the last five months.
Behind his top -100 rank, he competed in five Strait Grand Slam Main draws from the 2024 Australian Open, but could not qualify for the recently concluded French Open in Paris.
Number one and two players are also very large as the next best Sashikumar Mukund is on number 430, followed by Karan Singh (445), Aryan Shah (483) and Dev Javia (621).
Bopana slips out of top 50
In the doubles, Yuki Bhambri is now the number 1 player in the country at number 35 with a jump of six places, while veteran Bopana is out of the top -50 for the first time in 15. The 45 -year -old has now been placed at 53 places after losing to 20 places after his French open campaign.
On 21 June 2010, Bopana was ranked 52nd. In January last year, he became the oldest world number one in the doubles format. He is still playing solid tennis, with his boom still considered one of the best on the tour.
