Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday (May 7, 2025), with immediate effect that all speculation about his future was abolished in the longest format.
The 38 -year -old was India’s most vigilant testing batsman in the second half of his career, scoring 4301 runs in 67 tests and an average of 12 hundreds and 18 half a centuries of 40.57.
Rohit captained India in the World Test Championship final against Australia and rescued the indifferent chain at home against New Zealand and the last couple of the border-gavaskar series against Australia.
India will have a new Test captain for a five-observance series in England, with the potential candidates Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.
