Police said the explosion was so serious that it destroyed the construction of the office of the peace committee by implicating many people under the rubble.
Police said at least seven people were killed and nine others were injured on Monday, when a powerful bomb blast entered the office of a peace committee in the unstable Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The blast occurred in the office of a local peace committee at Wana, headquarters of South Waziristan district, police confirmed.
According to the hospital administration, 16 injured people were brought to the hospital after the explosion, of which seven died due to their injuries.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Explosion destroys construction of peace committee office
Police said the explosion was so powerful that this collapsed the office building of the peace committee, causing many persons to be trapped under the debris.
Rescue teams and locals reached the site on receiving information and started an operation to recover the injured from the rubble.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are being treated. Hospital officials mentioned that some victims are in critical condition.
So far, no official statement has been given about the cause or motive behind the explosion.
Investigation started
Police and security agencies have secured the area and started investigating the incident.
Officials have said that evidence is being collected from the scene, and various aspects are being investigated to locate those responsible for the explosion.
Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist incidents, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, after the collapse of the ceasefire agreement with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November 2022.
