Trump’s tariff news
On Thursday evening, President Trump signed an order, directing the US Trade Representative and Commerce Secretary to prepare the new country-specific tariffs, which aims to re-order business relations. According to Trump’s nominated Howard Lutnik for the Commerce Secretary, these far -reaching changes can be implemented by 1 April, 2025.
Trump also said that he would implement additional imports on cars, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals beyond the mutual tariffs.
Prior to his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trump commented that India had more tariffs than almost any other country. However, he said that the two leaders are committed to strengthening relations and improving trade policies between the two countries.
