Two accused in a gang rape case were injured during a confrontation with police in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu on Friday. The incident occurred when the police tried to arrest the suspects, who were reportedly involved in the rape of a 30 -year -old woman earlier this month.
The crime took place on February 19 when a 35 -year -old male relative was visiting a fort on a hill near the new bus stand in Krishnagiri. Around 3 pm, four intoxicated people faced the pair, threatened them with weapons, and looted a woman of their gold jewelery, reported India today. Two people allegedly raped the woman, while the other two attacked their phone. The attackers also forced the male to move Rs 7,000 through GPAY before fleeing from the scene.
After the ordinance, the couple landed on the hill, where local residents saw the woman in crisis. However, the couple did not immediately report the incident to the police and instead returned to their hometown Tirupathur, the residents informed the officials. The police later visited the couple in Tirupathur and lodged a woman’s complaint.
After an investigation, the police identified the four accused as Kalirson and Abhishek from Palaypai, who were involved in the robbery, and Suresh and Narayanan from Krishnagiri, who allegedly raped. Kalirson and Abhishek were arrested on Wednesday, while Suresh and Narayanan were on a large scale.
On Friday, the police got a tip-off that Suresh and Narayanan were hiding near Ponmalai Kuttai Perumal Temple in Krishnagiri. When the officials tried to arrest him, the two accused allegedly injured two constables, Kumar and Vijaykumar on the police, according to a report by the Times of India. In response, the police fired a warning in the air. When the accused continued to protest and tried to escape, the authorities shot Suresh in the right knee, causing him to stabilize. Narayan allegedly fell during a collision and faced fracture in his right leg.
The injured police officers and both the accused were taken to Krishnagiri Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.
