Some foot -tapping music in the gym, some banquets and a lot of laughter – had a lot of sunlight during India’s training session, which were clouded and depressed on Thursday at the Bekenham County Ground.
After the heart -breaking necklace at Lord’s, starting training after two days of breaks, the Indian team looked at the rejuvenation and comfort as they were ready for the fourth test of next week at Old Trafford.
While KL Rahul left the session, all the three fast bowlers played for India in the last game – Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammad Sirj – did not bowl while doing their basic fitness routine.
In fact, Siraj batted for some time, as India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel was seen bowling a long magic in the nets. “Seven overs and five wickets!” Morkel later said in a joke as he went towards the dressing room.
While Abhimanyu Ishwar, Karun Nair and Yashsvi Jaiswal had long sessions in the nets, Rishabh Pant played a little part of the tennis and did some throwing, but did not bat, nor did he take wickets.
Now after staying in England for more than three weeks, the team management ensured that the players remained fresh. Assistant coach Ryan Ten Dochet said, “It’s not felt like a long tour, it is exciting from the first day, as you get up every morning and you can’t wait for the next day.”
“Obviously, these people are working so hard, especially those who are new to the squad, so this is a very fresh tour in that sense,” he said.
While Bumrah was seen discussing one or two things with Arshdeep Singh, who had injured his hand, and Akash, batting coach Satanshu Kotak and Ten Dotk had separate sessions with batsmen with batsmen to keep them ready to grind for a long time.
