The Telangana government on Tuesday approved the increase in beer prices in India’s top beer -taking state. The decision, which is sold at a modified rates, came in view of a temporary supply stop by the United Bruis, which reports a Reuters, on pricing concerns, the Indian unit of Hincain.
Today, according to a report on Telangana, after the recommendations of the Pricing Committee, the instructions were issued by Principal Secretary Sam Rizvi. Amended pricing is expected to provide relief to manufacturers who are struggling with financial losses due to stable prices since the 2019-20 financial year.
The United Bruriies, which produces popular brands such as Kingfisher and Henecane, is 70% in the beer market in Telangana. Last month, the company suspended the supply, citing the Telangana Beverages Corporation Limited (TGBCL), the state -operated liquor distribution unit “significant and ongoing operating deficits”. The suspension disrupted the availability of beer in one of the largest liquor markets in India, affecting both consumers and retailers.
In a statement, the United Bruriaries highlighted that despite repeated efforts in the last two years, there was no increase in the base prices for its products. The company’s decision to prevent supply underlined the financial stress faced by Bruriies operated in the state.
According to the report in the Telangana government’s alcohol distribution model, the manufacturers include buying liquor and supply to retail stores. Recently, the authorities had also explained the supply to prevent hoardings and deficiency, and the situation was further complicated.
Last month, the price of beer in Karnataka increased to help the recovery of revenue shortage reported in the Excise Department. The increase ranged from Rs 10 to Rs 45 per bottle, such as a bottle of beer was Rs 230, with which the implementation was Rs 240.
