Delhi Capital attempted a great bowling before his batsmen led by Nikki Prasad, survived some anxious moments to win two wickets over Mumbai Indians in the final ball thriller in the women’s Premier League in Vadodara on Saturday. Opposing the bowl, DC excluded MI for 164 in 19.1 overs, with Nut Skylar-Brant Commanding 80 and Harmanpret Kaur’s Quickfire 42 of 22 Balls anchored the innings. Chasing the target, Shafali Verma’s Blistering 43 started a flight to DC off 43 balls from 18 balls, as he reached 60 without any loss. However, MI staged a sensational return, almost pursuing.
Alice Capsi (16), Annabel Sutherland (13), and Sara Bryas (21) kept DC in hunting, before Nikki Prasad (35) showed him great nature under pressure to get closer to the target.
With four wickets in hand, 21 runs are required from the last 12 balls, number 9 Radha Yadav (9 Not Out) broke a six to reduce the equation. Nikki again hit a four but was out on the fifth ball.
Arundhati Reddy (2 Not Out) scored two necessary runs with the final ball to seal the victory.
