Abhjit Mukherjee, son of former President Pranab Mukherjee, re -included the Congress for a long four -year long at the Trinamool Congress.
The former Lok Sabha MP was given Congress membership at the party’s state headquarters in the presence of AICC general secretary and in -charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir in West Bengal.
Regreting his decision to join TMC in 2021, Mukherjee said, “I apologize for this; It was not right for me to leave the Congress. “This is my second birthday in Congress and politics,” Mukherjee told reporters after the national and state leadership handed over the party’s flag.
Claiming that there is no alternative to the Grand Old Party in the country’s politics, he said, “Only the Congress only takes it with all the people despite its caste, creed and religion.” Mukherjee said that he had expressed his desire to join the Congress again. June last year, but due to various state elections, this can now happen.
He returned to Congress in July 2021 after four years of switching to the Trinamool Congress.
Mukherjee was not seen in a very active role during his tenure at TMC. Ensuring that Mukherjee is back to the “Right Party”, Mir said that his association will help the Congress in his efforts to strengthen the party’s Aadhaar in West Bengal.
Mir, an MLA from Jammu and Kashmir, said, “There are currently two types of ideologies working in the political field in the country – there are divisive forces on one side and on the other secular forces that take everyone together.”
He claimed that the Congress was working closely with all sections of the society.
“While a force is trying to change the constitution, the Congress is working for the welfare of all within the scope of the Constitution,” Mir said.
Saying that many political parties in different parts of the country want to spread the path of secularism, “But some people are indirectly playing in the hands of others.” In 2012, Mukherjee won a goodbye election for the Jangipur Lok Sabha constituency in a Congress. After his magnificent father, tickets, who served as a Congress leader in the central government, were elected President of India.
Mukherjee also won the 2014 parliamentary elections from the same constituency as a Congress candidate.
He was finishing third in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections after TMC and BJP candidates from Jugipur.
He joined the Congress party in 2011 as a political newbie and won the assembly elections as a candidate from Nalhti Khand in 2011.
Before joining politics in 2011, Mukherjee acted as a corporate executive in both private and public sectors.
