Under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana, gig workers will be eligible for healthcare benefits, including annual insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman announced in his Union Budget 2025 speech that the government would give identity cards and make it easy for one crore gig workers to register on e-Sarfum platform. The Government of India launched an e -ram platform with the goal of giving social protection to the unorganized sector workers. It holds a broad database of workers and streamlines access to government welfare programs.

To sign up, you need:

– Achar number

-Adhar-connected mobile number

– IFSC code for savings bank account number

It is important to note that a worker can register using biometric authentication at the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or State Services Center (SSK) if they do not have a mobile phone number linked to Aadhaar.

To apply for online e-Shard card, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the self-regulation page of the e-range portal on www.eshram.gov.in.

Step 2: After entering your cell phone number, click “Send OTP” which is connected to your Aadhaar account.

Step 3: Provide your Aadhaar number, enter the OTP that was distributed on your mobile device, and accept the terms and conditions.

Step 4: Check personal information on the screen, then fill the specified fields with your address, educational background, designated information and bank information. Then finally click on ‘Submit’.

Remember to choose the appropriate skill name, type of business and work type. After finishing, your ehar card will be sent to you.
