Veteran actor and megastar Chiranjeevi has announced that he will not return to active politics and instead will dedicate the rest of his life to the film industry. Speaking at a film event on Tuesday night, the 69 -year -old Icon stressed that his younger brother, Andhra Pradesh vice -president Pawan Kalyan, is advancing his political ideals and service motto.
“For the rest of this birth, I will keep films closer to my heart and serve the film industry, stay away from politics,” he said according to a report on PTI.
His comment comes amid rumors that some senior political leaders were willing to bring him back into active politics. However, Chiranjeevi rejected any such scheme stating, “There is no intention of returning to politics. Therefore, there is no doubt.”
Chiranjeevi made her political debut in 2008, began the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), which was later merged with the Congress in 2011. He also worked as a Union Minister in the UPA government before going away from active politics.
Chiranjeevi face backlash
Apart from his political attitude, Chiranjeevi has found himself into controversy after the comments made at Brahma Anandam’s East-Religs event. His comment about his family, especially about the gender of his future grandson, is criticized for being old and sexist.
The superstar openly accepted his wish for his son, Ram Charan, and daughter -in -law, Worship Kaminani, a child is a boy, saying that he feels “scared” that he could have another daughter.
Chiranjeevi said: “I keep wishing and (Ram) tell, Charan, at least this time, is a boy so that our legacy continues, but his daughter is an apple for his eye … I am afraid that She can be a girl again.
His comments have criticized the sections of public and social media users who called him a regressive and insensitive.
