CRPF creates new operations in Maoist stronghold of Chhattisgarh

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has opened a new operation base in A’s heart Strong Maoist corridor South of Chhattisgarh Settlement area As part of the footprint of its expansion in the state’s core left wing extremism-affected areas.

The forward operating base in ‘Pujari Kankar’ in Bijapur district was established on 13 February by the 196th and 205th Commando Battalion for Rejolute Action (Cobra) Battalion of the Force. Area, officials said.

Officials said that the remote area where the front operating base (FOB) has been established, is surrounded by the training camps of hills and houses, weapons, a spoke -dump and the ration units of Maoists with a surprise dump and the ration units of Maoists with south and west divisions. .

A commando of CRPF’s Cobra unit was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion when this fob was being built.

This is a challenging area as it serves as the operating center of the first battalion of armed Maoist cadres, said a senior official in the area.

He said that in memory of his slain cadres, a long red colored monument by Maoists was demolished by CRPF deploying a heavy earth-moving machine, he said.

The base is the 13th FOB in the latest range of these centers being created as part of the Central Government’s announcement to eliminate the threat of leftist extremism from the country by March 2026. He said that this Aadhaar would follow something before the Maoists’ annual strategic counter-invasive campaign (TCOC).

TCOC is done by Naxalites in summer to attack security forces because the forests dry up and trees allow long distances to the leaves of the shed.

Another official said that the CRPF unit has started its work to join the local people establishing Aadhaar as it has operated a medical camp where 70 local people were treated.

In Chhattisgarh, CRPF is opening more and more FOBs to expand the reach of security forces and administration to remove the influence of Maoists in remote areas.

It has created more than 40 fobs in Chhattisgarh in the last three-four years, as the toughest-naxal operation in the southern region of Bastar is focused on the borders of Odisha and Telangana.
