A mug with a dental, a saucer resembles a devious steel plate, and a bowl etched with a dialogue – the potter challenges the challenges of Nitin Soma’s soil work, leading to a mistake for the metal. In Soma Pottery, in his studio in Hyderabad, Hyderabad, Nitin gives an unconventional shape to his compositions, allowing the soil to take its form rather than imposing harsh control.
Most of his work, he says, is an Ode for nature. With a background in fashion design, he plays with colors and textures to enhance the raw beauty of each piece. “My design style is influenced by my environment. Nothing in nature corresponds to a boxing form. I like to bring that liquidity and organic shape in my work, ”he explains.

Nitin learned the utensils in 2022 in the agiter Pottery near Half Potary, Himachal Pradesh – one of the oldest pottery studios in the country. He spent three months training under Subham Number, who currently runs Andretta.
His time in Andreta was largely focused as an understanding. While observing the work of various potters, he developed a praise for each artist’s unique design elements, the idea process behind the color options, and, most importantly, raw naturalness, which attracted him.
As he spent more time on the potter’s wheel, his perception of perfection in earthen utensils developed. “Handmade earthen utensils do not have perfection about straight lines, sharp classes or innocent circles. The main element of handmade earthen utensils is its imperfection. He distinguishes it from factory items-it cannot be repeated, ”he explains.

After his time in Andreta, Nitin continued his pottery traveling at Dharmkot Studio, where he detected various styles of work further. “The more we see, the more we learn,” he reflects. “A potter once told me – when nothing is certain or perfect in this world, why should the handmade earthen utensils be in line with the shapes implicated?”
Nitin established his studio in 2023. She also holds utensil classes in her studio and has her own words of advice to every student. “Earthen utensils are not to be done in a hurry. Give it your time and it will surprise you with its beauty.” Their pots utensils The texture in, they say, in the textile design are deeply connected to their background. It was the texture of the simple baskets that made him so beautiful, “he shared.
Clay art
Nitin’s clay utensils are of two hours period. It enters hand-beding classes and private wheel sessions. In addition to beginners, any person can also be involved to refine their skills.
Another striking element of Nitin’s work is his choice, which are still impressive. In some pieces, he allows the color of his stains to stand out as the sole design feature, allowing the man to speak for himself.

“The style is about color and simplicity, personally I like the styles understood, which is why I keep everything minimal. Other factors that affect my design is the conversation starter. Growing in Hyderabad, Dakhni (Hyderabadi) is close to my heart. I feel more excited when people from other states take interest in it. Therefore, I decided to add words that are mostly understood by all. ‘Kaiko’ (why), ‘Potta’ (boy), ‘Poti’ (girl), ‘Aischch’ (just that way) and so on, say words, Nitin.
There are some pieces of Nitin with sentences in the bite. Some of them ‘Potta love Potti Poti, “Sida Jaki Right Jana,’‘Talk about Began.’“Why only ‘Potta Love Poti’ (boy loves girl), so I love a ‘Poti’ Pyaar Kiya ‘Potta’ (loves the girl), then ‘Potta Loves Potta’ and ‘Poti Loves Potty’. Included and also a conversation starter, ”says Nitin.
