Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 Major Constituency List: Delhi is gearing up for three-way performance in the upcoming assembly elections, in which Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), BJP and Congress are all for control.
The AAP is scheduled to achieve the third consecutive term in the national capital, while both BJP and Congress are leaving no stone unturned in their search to recover political power. As the election date comes, many major political figures are coming into the limelight, this competition has been seen most closely in recent years.
Major constituency and candidates to see in the upcoming elections
New Delhi
Arvind Kejriwal continued his tradition of contesting from New Delhi seat, maintaining a streak that spreads the last three assembly elections. This time, he faces BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dixit. Kejriwal’s previous victory has been marked by a significant margin, including a 21,687-video lead in 2020. He is banking on AAP’s welfare schemes, including a promise of 2,100 monthly allowances, as a major electoral plank for women.
Malavia city
Somnath Bharti of AAP has once again been designed to contest elections from Malviya Nagar, which has secured the last three elections with a sufficient lead. Bharti won the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections with more than 50% vote share. This time, he faces Satish Upadhyay of BJP and Jitendra Kumar Kochhar of Congress in a close battle.
Rohini
The Rohini seat will see a fierce competition between AAP and BJP. In both 2013 and 2015 elections, the winning margin between the two parties was less than 5,000 votes. Two -time BJP winner Vijendra Gupta (2015, 2020) is contesting for a third term against AAP’s Pradeep Mittal. In 2020, Gupta defeated AAP’s Rajesh Nama ‘Bansiwala’ by more than 12,000 votes.
Ballimaran
A traditional stronghold for Muslim candidates, Balimaran comes under Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency. The AAP has once again nominated a prominent Muslim leader and support minister Imran Hussain. The Congress has fielded veteran leader Aaron Yusuf, who has represented this constituency several times and has served as a cabinet minister in the Sheila Dixit government. Despite several attempts, the BJP never won. This time, the party fielded Kamal Bagri, who won the election of Delhi Municipal Corporation from Ram Nagar in 2022, replacing his 2020 candidate Lata Sodi.
Shakur Basti
The BJP has fielded the head of its Delhi Temple Prakoshth (Temple Cell) as its candidate for the Shakur Basti constituency. He will be against senior AAP leader Satyandar Jain, making it a high-dot competition.
Petparganj
A stronghold for AAP, Patparganj was represented by Manish Sisodia for three consecutive elections. However, this year, AAP has nominated teacher-politicalist Awadh Ojha to contest elections against Ravinder Singh Negi of BJP and Anil Chaudhary of Congress. Prior to AAP dominance, the Congress held the seat from 1998 to 2013. In 2020, Sisodia won with 70,163 votes.
Kalkji
Kalkji is watching a three-way fight between AAP, Congress and BJP. AAP has fielded Delhi Chief Minister Atisi Singh, who is against Alka Lamba of Congress and Ramesh Bidhuri of BJP. There are a total of 1,94,515 voters in the constituency, including 1,06,893 male voters, 87,617 female voters and 5 transgender voters. The AAP won here in the last two elections, in which Atisi defeated BJP’s Dhambir Singh by 11,393 votes in 2020.
Jangpura
AAP won both 2015 and 2020 elections in Jangpura with Praveen Kumar. This year, the party has replaced him with Manish Sisodia, which will be against Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Farhad Suri of Congress. In 2020, AAP won the seat by over 15,000 votes. Reports suggest that Sisodia’s enrollment is part of AAP’s comprehensive strategy, which is to combat inter-opponents and strengthen its position in Delhi.
Okhla
Amanatullah Khan of AAP is contesting from Okhla for the third consecutive time. The Congress has fielded Ariba Khan to challenge him. In both 2015 and 2020 elections, Khan defeated BJP’s Brahm Singh every time by a margin of more than 60,000 votes.
